The idea for the video was to reflect the 90s feel of the track with the visual aesthetic, and to embrace S.P.Y’s love of vinyl by paying homage to record store culture, crate digging, analogue music production, and mixing on vinyl.
The black, white, and red colour scheme keeps in line with the artist’s image, whilsts also reflecting the album artwork.
I produced and directed the video, and with DP & Camera Operator Salih Sali, we shot it in a single day. As a 2-man team, we carried out all roles & duties during the shoot, including all camera operations, creating and lighting the red scene of the video, as well as the set design and lighting of the Record Store scenes.
We shot it in 50fps 4k on the Sony fs7, using vintage Russian glass. These lenses helped us to achieve the macro shots I wanted, and to give the video that old-school texture with faded greys.
